Installation: I installed my own blinds!
Accepting the claims that these SlumberShade shades would completely blackout the room we ordered one for each of the two windows in the room. Installation went fine with some additional effort due to uneven walls and some extra fuzzy trim we received from Blinds Chalet when we let them know there were some issues with light one all sides.
But there was still significant light coming in at sides especially on a bright day with the sun shining directly on the shades. And this is when we really needed the blackout and the exclusive reason we purchased these shades. One of the other reviewers complained about a similar issue and I suspect that those that have this issue have direct sunlight shining on the shades mid-day and those that don't have this issue most likely only have to deal with indirect sunlight.
I finally realized the source of the problem and unfortunately it is a design flaw due to Blinds Chalet trying to save a few dollars on their blinds. Even though these are blackout shades they only use blackout material for the side facing into the room. But for the side facing the windows they use a translucent material. This allows the bright sunlight to penetrate the translucent material on the window side and enter at an angle through the opening of the cell toward the wall when the shade is fully extended. Had they been willing to spend the extra few dollars on blackout material on the window side of the shade, and I would have been more than willing to pay for it to have a real solution, this would not occur and the room would be truly dark.
I am now currently experimenting with placing the track on the inside of the room instead of following the installation instructions, and the pictures on the site, so that this light hits the inside of the track instead of the wall. I have not yet had a sunny day to determine if this works.
The bottom line is this might be a solution but it required unnecessary effort and frustration that could easily have been avoided by a simple design improvement.

Installation: I installed my own blinds!
Overall I'm pleased with the shade. The biggest complaint I have is that it is impossible to insert both screws into the mounting bracket and then snap the shade into place. The shade hits the back mounting bracket bolt. Take this out and the blind will snap into the mounting brackets without a problem. I really like to light blocking side strips and after adding some foam in a few places I have a blacked out room.
